When Wylie Wan talks about her work, she starts with a simple idea: the conditions around us shape how we feel, how we work, and how we move through each day.
Wylie joined Clackamas Education Service District in 2024 as a research analyst in Data and Evaluation. She brings a background in research, continuous improvement, and adult psychology, along with a strong interest in human behavior and the systems that influence people’s lives. Growing up in Hong Kong helped spark that interest and shaped the way she thinks about people, work, and support.
Before joining Clackamas ESD, Wylie worked as a research and data specialist at Northwest Regional Education Service District. She also brings a strong academic background to her role, with a PhD in developmental psychology and an MS in psychology from the University of Michigan, as well as a BA in psychology from UCLA.
At Clackamas ESD, Wylie’s work is guided by an important question: how do we support our workforce so staff can be well, keep growing, and best support students?
She helps answer that question by using research and data to better understand staff experience. Wylie works with departments and school districts to provide research, data, and evaluation support through an equity lens. She also creates reports and dashboards that turn information into something useful for decision-making and continuous improvement.
A key part of Wylie’s work has been helping launch a staff survey program, including the Employee Experience Survey. Through this work, she and her team study staff conditions, job satisfaction, attendance, and other factors that shape employee experience. One tangible product of the Data and Evaluation team’s work is a retention dashboard that provides real-time information about resignations, open positions, and staffing trends, helping inform hiring and retention strategies.
Wylie’s work reflects Clackamas ESD’s mission to learn, serve, and innovate. Through careful study and continuous improvement, she helps Clackamas ESD learn more about the experiences and needs of its workforce. By turning that learning into practical tools and insights, she helps the organization serve staff and school partners more effectively. And by developing new ways to gather, understand, and apply information, she supports Clackamas ESD’s ability to innovate in how it strengthens staff systems and student support.
Wylie’s work is grounded in a clear belief: when staff have strong systems and supportive working conditions, they are better able to support students.
At the heart of her work is a simple message: “This work is about more than collecting data. It is about using the right information to make thoughtful decisions, improve staff experience, and create meaningful outcomes.”
