When leaders in the Molalla River School District were concerned about their elementary school students’ reading progress, they reached out to Clackamas Education Service District’s Teaching and Learning team for support. Together, we set out to strengthen literacy instruction and give teachers the tools they needed to help every student succeed.
Our literacy and data specialists partnered closely with Molalla River administrators and educators, using a data-informed, research-based approach to guide professional learning and classroom practice. Through coaching, professional development and evidence-based techniques, teachers gained new strategies to engage students and tailor instruction to meet their needs.
This partnership has empowered educators across all four elementary schools in Molalla River to implement effective, evidence-based reading practices — and the results are clear. Students are making meaningful progress, teachers feel more confident in their instruction and a renewed joy for reading is spreading throughout classrooms.
