On July 1, Heather Ray became the newest member of the Clackamas Education Service District Board of Directors.
Ray was elected to an at-large position on the board in May and will be sworn in at the board’s next regular meeting Aug. 27.
Ray brings a deep commitment to the community to her new role. She is director of projects at the Oregon Council for Behavioral Health, and an active school and civic volunteer. She has served as a PTA president and in leadership positions for her neighborhood association, and contributed to the Milwaukie Public Safety Committee. She also is a mental health first aid instructor.
The proud parent of a child attending school in the North Clackamas School District, Ray also is president and assistant coach at her local soccer club. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Missouri and an MBA from Willamette University.
“I’m consistently inspired by the talent and perseverance I see daily among our most vulnerable kids in the district,” Ray commented. “I ran for this position because I want to help our ESD make maximum use of its resources to support all our students, especially as we face an uncertain budgetary future.”
