Paid work experiences

Work Experiences are a win-win opportunity for businesses and youth. Youth are able to gain on-the-job experience while learning more about a particular industry and get paid. Employers are able to work with potential employees before hiring them.

Clackamas Youth Career Expo

Hosting a table at the annual Clackamas Youth Career Expo is a fantastic way for businesses to get their name out and meet tomorrow’s workforce.

Job Shadows

Job shadows are an easy way for local businesses to get involved with youth and for youth to experience different industries. This is a great opportunity to work one-on-one with youth.

Career Field Trips

Open your doors for a few hours and let our youth tour your business! Career field trips are a great way for businesses to explain what they do to youth and for youth to experience the many different industries that are available in Clackamas County.

Mock Interviews

First interviews are intimidating for many youth. Mock interviews are a great way for youth to practice interviewing while getting constructive feedback from local employers.

Hosting an Intern

Are you a business or organization interested in learning more about hosting an intern through C-TEC Youth Services?  We’re here to help!  Work Experiences are a great way to help the emerging workforce gain experience and find a career field that’s a good fit.  However, they’re also a great way for businesses to vet potential future employees.  It’s a low risk opportunity to see if a C-TEC participant may be a good match to meet your future employment needs.

C-TEC Youth Services will:

  • Have one point of contact, our C-TEC Employment and Training Specialist, that will work with you from start to finish
  • Work with you to find out your specific needs and what’s important to you for a good work experience match
  • Provide you and the direct supervisor at your site with support to identify and structure a quality work experience position
  • Train and approve all C-TEC participants before referring them for a potential work experience
  • Provide workers compensation insurance and a stipend or wage for the intern
  • Check in regularly with you and the intern to support and address any needs that arise
  • Assist the intern to obtain any necessary supplies, tools, clothing, etc.

Our Partners

Our community partners are vital to our ability to help youth in Clackamas County breakdown barriers and become successful in their educational and vocational goals.

Some of our partners include:

If you value academic variety, a good investment, and opportunity for personal involvement, then the Clackamas Community College experience may be a good fit.  The college collaborates with C-TEC Youth Services to provide a variety of opportunities, including customized career exploration,  GED and high school completion programs, and a C-TEC Career Advisor for students at the college.  CCC also houses the main C-TEC Youth Services office on the Oregon City campus.

The Clackamas Workforce Partnership is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a strong workforce in Clackamas County.  Primary funding for C-TEC Youth Services comes from CWP under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), to help low income youth develop into a strong emerging workforce.

As part of the WorkSource Oregon network across the state, WorkSource Clackamas works closely with C-TEC Youth Services to provide training and employment services to youth.

The Department of Human Services is Oregon’s principal agency for helping Oregonians achieve well-being and independence, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.  DHS works closely with C-TEC Youth Services to provide seamless, coordinated services for youth, with the shared goal of moving youth toward self-sufficiency.  DHS also acts as a primary referral source in Clackamas County.

The Housing Authority of Clackamas County provides housing and resources for low-income individuals and families.  Through this innovative partnership, C-TEC Youth Services is able to work as part of the HACC team to provide education and employment support for youth residing in public housing.

CCJD and OYA strive to keep communities safe, hold youth accountable for their actions in a meaningful way, and reduce recidivism through innovative programs.  They partner with C-TEC Youth Services to provide an on-site Career Advisor to support youth involved in the juvenile justice system.

Serving 85 square miles in the heart of Clackamas County, the Canby School District educates approximately 4,200+ students and provides educational services to diverse populations and geographic attendance areas.

The Estacada School District is made up of two elementary schools, a middle school, a high school, and a charter school. We provide a small town school environment for 1700 public school students and approximately 1100 students in our Summit Learning Center Charter School. Our service area covers an expansive geographic area of more than 750 square miles of rural Oregon countryside in the Clackamas River area, and includes considerable portions of the Mt. Hood National Forest.

North Clackamas School District (NCSD) is Oregon’s sixth-largest school district and spans more than 40 square miles just southeast of Portland, OR, serving the communities of Milwaukie and Happy Valley, along with other parts of Clackamas County. NCSD has 32 schools dedicated to serving each student.

The West Linn-Wilsonville School District covers 42 square miles in the south metropolitan area of Portland, Oregon. The district includes two towns, West Linn and Wilsonville, and a rural area of Clackamas County. The district is a K-12 public school system with more than 9,000 students spread across 9 primary schools, 4 middle schools, and 3 high schools. West Linn-Wilsonville employs more than 1,200 staff members.
