Clackamas ESD’s administrative building was filled with new teachers and their mentors May 23, eager to immerse themselves in the values of trauma-informed and culturally sustaining mentoring practices.

The event, facilitated by the Multnomah-Clackamas Regional Educator Network, served as the capstone for the Mentor Collaborative Program 2022-23 professional learning series, which centered educator well being in a way that can drive change and improve teacher retention. Nearly 60 educators and mentors from 15 school districts participated in a day targeted to meet key learning goals, and help educators network with colleagues who will help them grow as practitioners and cultivate their leadership potential.

MCREN provides mentoring support to new educators, and trains new educator mentors who want to help colleagues advance their teaching practice. All school districts in Clackamas and Multnomah counties can participate in MCREN’s professional learning series to support and grow mentors. MCREN also can support regional mentors in districts with limited resources of their own. Sign up for the regional mentoring service by filling out an application or reach out to Bianca Espinosa about joining the mentor learning series.
