About Clackamas Education Service District

Clackamas Education Service District is an important part of our local public education system. We are part of a statewide network of education service districts and partner with all 10 Clackamas County public school districts, expanding their ability to serve the educational needs of the students in our region. Our cost-effective services cover a range of areas, from early learning and special education, to technology and teacher/staff support. We ensure students and families in all of our communities — big and small — have access to equitable education services.

FAQs

Education service districts (ESDs) are regional organizations that provide support to school districts. There are 19 ESDs in Oregon, and each ESD has a specific service area. Clackamas ESD serves all 10 school districts in Clackamas County.

ESDs tailor their services to the needs of the districts in their region. Generally, those are services districts can’t easily or cost-effectively provide on their own. Clackamas ESD offers a range of services, but they focus on early learning, special education, technology, and teaching and learning support. Some of our services are used by all districts, and others are provided by contract with individual districts.

ESDs receive some funding from the State School Fund, the primary funding source for Oregon school districts. At Clackamas ESD, we receive about 44 percent of our funding from the state, and the rest comes from state and federal grants, service contracts with our customers and other sources.

No. ESDs are independent organizations that provide services to school districts within their region. They have no authority over local school districts.
