Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Ed (EI/ECSE)

For more than thirty years, Clackamas Education Service District has served babies and preschoolers with special needs.

Our Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education program works with families, school districts, and community partners in our county to prepare children to enter kindergarten ready to learn. Children ages birth to 5 years whose disability or delay impacts their learning or development are eligible to receive individualized services to meet their needs.

Types of services provided include home visiting, consultation in early learning settings such as community preschools, specialized preschool classes, parenting education, and related services.

The program is free for eligible families.

Gladstone Teaching Preschool

Gladstone Teaching Preschool is a small, year-round, pilot program serving a limited number of children, ages 3-5 years. Students are selected and come from families on the Head Start wait list and families receiving Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Services. Tuition is provided by grant funding. The preschool is co-taught by an early childhood education specialist and a teacher from Opal School of Portland Children’s Museum. The classroom is located in the Gladstone Center for Children and Families.

Peer Program

Early Childhood Special Education Program invites families to participate in our Peer program. We offer the opportunity for families whose children are typically developing to attend our specialized preschool classes along with children who have been identified as having a disability or developmental delay. These “typical peers” support our mission to educate children with their peers and provide models of typical development.
